Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his wife and "Angel in Heaven", Lyn; brother, John Nicolay; and brother-in-law, Rich Metzner.
Bob is survived by his sisters, JoAnn (Tom) Stevener of Innsbrook, MO and Nancy Metzner of Macomb, IL; nephews, Scott (Sarah) Stevener, Marc (Becky) Stevener, Todd (Katy) Stevener, Drew (Rachel) Stevener, and Nick Metzner; and 8 great nieces and nephews.
He received his bachelor's degree from the Central Methodist University and received his Masters from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia. Bob retired from the Post-Dispatch as an obituary columnist. He was known to the local funeral directors as "B-O-B Bob" as his spelling was precise and he always made sure that no obituary was less than perfect! He had a tremendous love of music and theatre and enjoyed attending performances throughout the St. Louis area. Bob and his wife, Lyn, passionately supported local music and theatre programs. Bob's record collection was 2nd only to the collection of Charlie Menees, the first Jazz critic for the Post-Dispatch and a jazz educator. Bob was an eccentric fellow who never met a stranger. If you met Bob once, you remembered him forever! "The song has ended but the melody lingers on" Irving Berlin. You will always be our melody, Bob!
