Shirley C. Birkenmeier

Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Anthony T. Birkenmeier; devoted mother of Mary Jo Ward, Christy (Bryan) McMinn, Randy Birkenmeier, and the late Nancy Birkenmeier, Judith Hassler, James (Patricia) Birkenmeier, and Thomas Birkenmeier; treasured grandmother of Jennifer (Bernard) Bergmann-Krause, Anthony (Alicia) Birkenmeier, Jeffrey Birkenmeier, Angela (Jeff) Redfearn, Alicia McMinn, Kelly (Frank) Amato, Collin (Mary) Ward, Noelle McMinn, Hannah (Brandon Horman) Ward, and the late Andrew Hassler; loving great-grandmother of Anthony, James, Dominic and Katie Bergmann, Jack and Ben Redfearn, Gianna Amato, Jacob Birkenmeier, Walker (Ward) Horman, and Tyler and Abby Krause; dear aunt, great-aunt, and a friend to many in her lifetime.

Shirley was a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Magdalen in South St. Louis. She was a member of the Women's Organization and the Quilters.

Shirley was a vision of resilience and selfless inspiration to all who knew her.

Visitation will be Monday, March 6 from 10-11am at the Church of the Magdalen, 4924 Bancroft at South Kingshighway 63109. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley's memory to Shriners Children's Hospital or the American Red Cross would be greatly appreciated by her family.
