Susan Hunter was born September 25, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, to the union of Robert and Marvis Hunter who preceded her in death. Her oldest brother Donald and all three sisters, Marvette, Beverly and Renee also preceded her in death.
Susan was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools where she graduated from the mighty Soldan High School. She later enlisted in the United States Reserves where she honorably served for several years.
Susan worked in the administrative financial field during her career and retired as the Administrative Assistant to the CEO of Reliable Insurance.
At a young age she confessed her love for Christ and was baptized at Prince of Peace Church. She served as a faithful member in several different components of ministry. She served as the financial secretary for many years, a member of the Combined Voices Choir, Ministry of Helps, Women’s Ministry, Dance Ministry and always volunteered her time and expertise when needed. She belonged to BMW, Red Hats Society and volunteered at Oasis. She will forever be known as a strong, beautiful, intelligent woman, but most of all, our Diva.
Susan was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Jerry Carter, Sr. who was a devoted husband and a full-time caregiver until her transition.
She leaves behind her loved ones to cherish her legacy; her beloved husband, Jerry Carter, Sr., her brother Keith (Rebecca) Hunter, her stepchildren, Jerry Carter, Jr., Juanita (Jerome) Pettiford, John H. (Amber) Carter, Jeremiah Carter; her three nieces, Denise (Johnathan) Watt, Pamela (Stewart) Jones-East, Donielle Hunter and her nephew, Keith (Elissa) Hunter, II. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and many great nieces and nephews.
