He was born in St. Michael, MN on March 9th, 1947. Al had a lifelong passion for cars and fishing. Al and Dar first met through a mutual friend. Al offered Dar a ride home from a get-together and the rest, they say, is history. Al and Dar enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
Al worked at the Star Tribune for 35 years before retiring in 2007. Throughout his life, Al and Dar traveled and owned several homes. Including a wonderful cabin in Alexandria, MN on Lake Ida; a Villa in Englewood, Florida near the beach; and several other lovely homes. Al made friends quickly with each new location due to his big smile and his always having time to chat. At the time of his death, Al lived in a condo in Andover, MN near his children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind his children Peter Hoeben (Ely), Tim Hoeben (Isabel), Wendy Amundson (Darin), Cheri Neumann (Jason), and Lisa Hoeben. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and many family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 13th at St Patrick’s Church, 19921 Nightingale St NW Oak Grove, MN 55011. Viewing at 10 am and lunch to follow. All friends and family are welcome. The family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or National MS Society instead of flowers or other gifts.
