Andy "Andrew John" Friendt, 75, of Maplewood, Minnesota, passed away in his home on May 3, 2024, after his incredibly brave and spirit filled battle with kidney disease. He was born to Roseann and Lawrence Friendt on January 1, 1949, in St. Paul.
After attending Tartan High School, Andy served his country honorably for 3 years in Vietnam. Following his military service, he returned to the states and dedicated more than 40 years working for School District 622. Andy was a hard working, private man who cherished his relationship with the Lord and his beloved wife Patty.
He worshipped at Redeeming Love Church, finding not only community and solace in Bible study, but also love when he met Patty there. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, spending warm summer nights at Cedar Lake Speedway, and taking long car rides with Patty, listening to worship and country music together.
Left to cherish Andy’s memory is his wife Patty (Garrett), stepchildren Carrie, Jason and Shelly, his son Jason and partner Jim, daughter Somer (Kvale) her wife Kate, and grandchildren Cash and Saylor. Andy is also survived by his siblings, David, Kathie, Faith, Ellen, Rick, Paul, Bob, Mike, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents Roseann and Lawrence, Patricia Friendt (mother of his children), Jean Fernholz (second wife), Jim Friendt, Susan LeRoy, and Lynn Splittstoesser.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Fund (AKF) in memory of Andrew J. Friendt to support research into a cure for kidney disease.
