Bernice C. Peden

Bernice left us on November 16, 2015, at the age of 93, with her children and grandchildren by her side. Bernice was the first born of Joseph and Bertha Hathaway on February 12, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa. She went to Mounds Park Elementary and graduated from Harding High School in 1940. Bernice married her husband, Emery in 1943 and had her four boys. She worked at the Emporium as a sales clerk for many years and part-time at Montgomery Wards. She was a great mother, a good friend and a special person to all who knew her. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Emery; son, Steven and his wife, Judy; sister, Vivian; brothers, Donald and Joe Hathaway; brothers-in-law, Marlow and Delbert Swanson; great-grandchild, Isaac Peden. She is survived by her children, Emery, James and Jeffrey; sister, Florence Swanson; grandchildren, Ronald, Daniel, Chris, Matt, Rachel, Greg, Johnathan, Ryan, Michael, Cory, Brian and Samantha; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Service Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Mounds Park United Methodist Church, 1049 Euclid Street in Saint Paul, with Gathering of Family and Friends one hour prior. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
