Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our beloved son, Calvin, affectionately known as La Memphis and Memphis 10, who left this world far too soon at just 15 years old.
Calvin was truly one of a kind. He was fearless, honest, loving, and full of life. He always said he wasn’t scared of death, and that fearless spirit was a part of who he was. He was never afraid to be himself, and he never pretended to be someone he wasn’t.
Calvin loved being around his friends. They brought him happiness, laughter, and countless memories. He had a way of making people happy simply by being himself. He was always looking out for the people he loved and wanted to see his friends and his people succeed.
Calvin had dreams. He loved music and used his words to express what was in his heart. One of the things he wrote will forever carry his voice:
“I’m tryna make it, feed my team, but if I don’t, at least I tried. Never give up on your dreams.”
Those words say so much about who Calvin was. He didn’t just dream for himself. He wanted to make it and bring his people with him. He wanted his team to eat, his friends to win, and the people he loved to have something better.
Calvin was also incredibly honest. With him, you always knew where you stood. He spoke from his heart, told it like it was, and stayed true to himself. He was genuine, unforgettable, and completely his own person.
At only 15 years old, Calvin had so much more life ahead of him. So many more songs to write, dreams to chase, laughs to share, and memories to make. His life was tragically cut short, but his voice, his words, and his memory will live on through everyone who loved him.
Calvin leaves behind his loving mother, Amanda; his father, Gregory; his beloved sister, Rieannah; and his five brothers, Gregory, Steven, Lewis, Niron, and JJ. He also leaves behind extended family, countless friends, and so many people whose lives he touched.
To those who knew him as Calvin, La Memphis, or Memphis 10, you know exactly who he was. You know his laugh. You know his personality. You know his honesty. You know his heart. You know how much he loved being around his people.
Calvin’s life may have been short, but his impact was not.
We will remember his fearless spirit.
We will remember his honesty.
We will remember his laughter.
We will remember the way he looked out for others.
We will remember the happiness he brought to the people around him.
And we will carry his dreams with us.
Never give up on your dreams.
Calvin, you wanted to make it and feed your team. You wanted the people you loved to win. You were fearless, you were real, and you were loved beyond measure.
Your time here was far too short, but your name will live forever.
Forever our son. Forever our brother. Forever La Memphis. Forever Memphis 10. Forever loved. Forever remembered.
Rest peacefully, Calvin. Mommy loves you forever.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 1-4 pm at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW in Coon Rapids, MN.
