Mom was an extraordinary woman whose life was defined by love, selflessness, and resilience. Her career as a nurse reflects her deep commitment to caring for others, a trait that clearly extended into her personal life. At 17 she married Greg and started her family of five boys. Mom often reminisced and talked of her childhood growing up on Minnesota avenue, where even the struggles came across as fond memories through her stories, which shaped her into someone who could find joy in the hardest moments. Mom was devoted to her family, and motivated to continue the traditions of her mother by organizing family reunions, making every holiday special, and Sunday dinners that brought everyone together. Mom was selfless and driven to take care of others; she would not hesitate to do without, so others would not have to. She sat at bedside for days when others were sick or hospitalized. Mom’s favorite pastimes were bowling and playing slot machines with uncanny luck! Mom was very spiritual and captured her relationship with God in notebooks filled with bible verses about forgiveness and gratitude for what she had. Her beliefs seemed like an anchor that kept her grounded through it all. She also donated what she could to several causes including veteran organizations. Anyone who knew Colleen would agree that she radiated love and generosity and added so much to this world!
