

She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Dorothy was born on August 16, 1917, in St. Paul, MN, to Samuel and Stela Riesenweber. She was baptized at Dayton's Bluff Baptist Church in April of 1930, where she would later meet the love of her life, Reuben Paul Heckmann. They married on October 5, 1940.
She had a huge heart and a loving spirit, always ready with a laugh or a kind smile, and was gifted at making sure the people around her felt seen and welcomed. For 22 years she sang with the Sweet Adelines of White Bear Lake, competing with joy and dedication. Family was everything to her, along with her church, her faith in the Lord, and Minnesota hockey.
She is survived by her son Roger Heckmann (Janet); daughters Barbara Heckmann and Renee Becker (Bruce); five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Reuben; her parents Samuel and Stela Riesenweber and stepmother Elvira; and her sisters Florence Holran, Irene Bracke, Carol Engle, Ginger Spiel, and Marilyn Ferry.
Visitation will be held on April 19, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Redeemer Baptist Church, 2479 Geneva Ave N, Oakdale, MN 55128, with a service at 2:00 PM. Private interment at Union Cemetery, Oakdale. Memorials to Redeemer Baptist Church.
