On July 1, 2025, Floyd Jaehnert, age 85, of St. Paul, MN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Floyd was born September 26, 1939 in St. Paul, MN. He grew up on the East Side and graduated from St. Paul Johnson High school. He then attended trade school for pattern making and started as an apprentice for Gopher Pattern Works in Minneapolis. He worked for Gopher Pattern his entire career eventually becoming owner of the company.
In 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Kupferschmidt. He was a faithful and loyal husband to Carol for 61 years. They raised 4 children at their East Side home, where they lived until their last few years at Harmony Gardens in Maplewood. Floyd was passionate about antique cars. At the young age of 19, with his very first paycheck, he bought and started restoring a 1918 Model T Ford. He spent his life restoring cars and touring in them. He was an active member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), Capital City Chapter, MN Region, and the Horseless Carriage Club. He faithfully volunteered with these organizations, serving as president for several years starting at the young age of 28.
Floyd’s other passion was hockey. He coached youth hockey on the East Side of St. Paul for 20 years. He was an avid supporter of the Johnson Hockey association and served as president.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and Paul Jaehnert, his wife, Carol, his brother, Paul, and infant son, John.
Survived by his sister, Karen (Paul) Emeott, children, Larry (Laurie) Jaehnert, Ann (Mark) Eliason, Carolyn (John) Chikkala, and Mary (Brad) Severson; his grandchildren: Dana (Alex) Bhalla, Kristen (Joshua) Steinberg and baby Addison, Seth (Emma) Eliason, Brett Eliason, Jasmine and Joshua Chikkala, Aaron and Grace Severson.
Funeral service Tuesday, July 15th 11:00 AM, at First Evangelical Free Church, 2696 Hazelwood Street, Maplewood, MN 55109. Visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Private burial for family at Union Cemetery.
