John Phillip Maldonado

Preceded in death by wife, Susan; daughter, Stephanie Kieffer; parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

Survived by children: Ronnelle Marks, Chantal (Maldonado) Jacques, John Maldonado (Melissa Cortes), Juana Maldonado (Christopher Defiel), Jeff Gabriel (Teri), Michael Gabriel (Monica Garcia), Amy Gabriel (Dawn Gelle), Jim Gabriel (Melissa), Mark Gabriel (Anne), and Susanne Maldonado; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister, Alice Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

John grew up in St. Paul’s historic Swede Hollow and was a life-long East Sider. He was a proud United States Marine Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a retiree of the Department of Public Works, Bridge Division. In the last six months of John’s life, it took a village to maintain his fierce desire to remain in his home, and we are grateful to the many family members who assisted in providing care, especially his grandson, Nick Kieffer, and the staff at Treasured Seasoned Homecare.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 18 at Wulff Funeral Home (1485 White Bear Avenue, Saint Paul).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Presentation of Mary Catholic Church (1725 Kennard Street, Maplewood) on Friday, June 19th with a visitation one hour prior to mass.

Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
