Laurence Francis McDonald

Age 92 of Arden Hills, passed away March 16, 2023. He was preceded in death by wife Patricia McDonald, parents Charles and Loretta McDonald, beloved brothers Sam and Bill McDonald, and dear aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survived by children Linda (Marney) McDonald, Lori "Lu" (Brad) Ketz, Shawn (Mark) Gates, and Tim (Karen) McDonald; grandchildren Brenden, Connor, Brogan, Max, Katie, Michael, and Leighton; sister-in-law Virginia McDonald; nieces and nephew Jackie, Tom, Michelle, Melissa, and Noelle; and many other beloved relatives and friends.

Visitation at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave. in St. Paul on Tuesday, March 21 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria Street North in Shoreview, with visitation one hour prior to Mass.

Larry had a highly decorated, 40-year career with the St. Paul Police Department where, among many of his innovations, started one of the nation’s first police K-9 units in 1958. Larry was an incredible husband, father, leader and teacher. He was eternally optimistic, always had a positive attitude, and certainly made the world a better place. He will be remembered well and dearly missed by many.
