Lynette Rua Amel, 103, died on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Carondelet Village in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was born to Charles and Oline (Brunsvold) Comstock on September 20, 1915, in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Lynette attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She was a social worker during the Great Depression in Sydney, Iowa.
On June 14, 1938, Lynette married Earl Amel of Alden, Minnesota. The couple had two sons, Ronald and Jerome, and lived in Hunter, North Dakota, for many years. After retirement, they moved to Sun City West, Arizona. Lynette spent her last years in Saint Paul near her family.
Lynette was active in numerous church and civic organizations. Most notably, she served on the Hunter School Board and on the North Dakota Mental Health Association Board of Directors.
She is survived by her sons and their wives: Ron and Terry Amel of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and Jerry (JC) and Joy Amel of Minneapolis; and by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, parents and four brothers, Halvor, Rodger, Willis and Cliff, preceded her in death.
