OBITUARY

Mark Daniel Murphy

September 4, 1954 – April 24, 2026
Obituary of Mark Daniel Murphy
IN THE CARE OF

Wulff Funeral Home

Mark Daniel Murphy was born on an unseasonably hot early morning September 4th, 1954 at St. John's hospital to Everett and Florence Murphy in Saint Paul, MN.

Mark grew up on the East side playing many Minnesota childhood activities and sports. He had a great love for hockey. He always talked of spending hours at local rinks still skating after dark with no lights due to his love for the game no matter the weather. Mark loved his time spent at the family cabin fishing and hunting with his Dad. Many trips were made creating lasting memories over the years. Mark also played broomball, mens softball and baseball in his lifetime. Mark was charming, witty, and had a childlike sense of wonder. He was goofy, had a fantastic sense of humor and a smile that had just the right amount of mischief. He loved music, western movies, playing cards and cribbage. Most often you would find him working on the newspaper's daily crossword with a cup of coffee.

After high school Mark met the mother of his children. He also welcomed his son Mark Jr. and a year later his daughter Alicia Marie. Mark loved his children and passed on the love for many of his favorite things early in their childhood. Things like hockey, Italian sausage & green olive pizza, but mostly his charm and wit. So many memories of sledding, picking lilacs, Yarusso's for dinner, and Hazel Park skating rinks in the winter with nature creations under the trees in summer. He was the kind of Dad you could always call no matter what the issue. He was always understanding and kind. The kind of man who was as stubborn as he was loving with a true heart of gold.

Mark worked many places and is remembered mostly for his sales position at Billy Boy Juices and then his favorite stomping grounds and longest employment, tending bar at Hoagie's Bar. Mark was a true East Sider and loved his community of people and patrons. His friendly demeanor and that sparkle in his light green eyes was always inviting no matter where you ran into him. Whether a hug, a handshake or a joke he was naturally cheerful and always pleasant to see. Mark was known for giving out fun nicknames and he himself mostly went by "Murph" to the people who knew him.

Mark was preceded in death by Everett and Florence Murphy (Scholl), Father and Mother. John and Diane Hawthorne (Duncan) brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Marlene French (Hawthorne), brother-in-law and sister, and grandchild Connor Murphy. Survived by his children Mark Jr (Kristina) and Alicia Murphy (Eric Quigg). Siblings Joe Murphy (Dorene), and Rosann Beyer. Six grandchildren, Kimberly, (Justin Wicks), Blake, Gabriella, Dominic, Harper and Kenley, plus two great-grandchildren Mena and Luca.

Please join Mark's children, friends and family at the American Legion Post #577 on Arcade Street, St. Paul, MN for a celebration of life on Friday May 8th, starting at 5pm.
