Maynard was born in Elaysion, MN May 24, 1938 and passed away March 12, 2019. He is preceded in death by parents Ida and Theodore Nuessmeier, sister Iona and brother Willard. Maynard is survived by his wife Irene, children Vicky (Phil) Wheeler, Jody (Doug) Dahl, Julie (Don) Anderson, grandsons Jim and Brandon, granddaughters Melissa, Nicole and Jenelle, great-granddaughters Summer, Zoey, Lillian, Kiara and Chris, brother Wayne (Fay) Nuessmeier, and many nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Waseca, MN and after graduating from Waseca High School on May 13, 1956 he moved to the Twin Cities where he was introduced to the love of his life, Irene. They were married November 19, 1960 in Iowa and began raising a family in Oakdale, MN. They had three girls and as they grew he introduced them to sports and the outdoors. Summers were spent camping and fishing on Rush Lake, winters were for snowmobiling. While on a family trip to Las Vegas they renewed their wedding vows November 2, 1996 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 19, 2010.
Maynard was a wonderful husband, dad, friend and mentor. Family and friends knew all they had to do was call and he would be there to lend a hand. He was always there with a smile and shoulder to lean on.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 120 and retired after driving truck, local and over the road, for 28 years. At his final job hauling cars, he took the routes that would take him through Waseca so he could have lunch with his mom. In his retirement he enjoyed spending Saturday mornings at Denny’s having breakfast with family and meeting friends, working in the yard, talking with the neighbors and spending time with the love of his life, Irene.
