Passed away on Sunday morning, August 19, 2012 at The Pillars residential hospice. He was a known for his wildlife paintings, music and golf. He was born on June 2, 1911 in St. Paul, the son of Peter and Mary (Hudalla) Ciernia. Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1988; his sisters, Delores Aschittino & Rita Olson; and last year, his son-in-law, John Brennan. He will remain in the hearts of his daughters, Karen Brennan of Moravia NY & Marilyn (Dan) Kinsella of Eagan MN; son, Tom (Maria) Ciernia of Inver Grove Heights MN; longtime companion & dear friend, Rachel Pritchard; 12

grandchildren: Kristen Brennan (Michael Smith), Thomas Brennan (Alicia Buoni), David Brennan (Katelyn Miller), Ann (Kevin) McCleary, Katie Brennan (Chris Grilli), Matt (Shannon) Kinsella, Karen (Eric) McKay, Ryan Kinsella, Jim Kinsella, Anne (Rick) Hasenstab, Heather (Chris) Nelson, Dan Ciernia (Katie Osborn); 10 great-grandchildren: Samuel & Isaiah Smith, Luca & Colin Brennan, Mason, Cole & Tessa Kinsella, Neve McKay, Owen & Fallon Hasenstab; nieces, extended family & friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, August 22nd at St. Thomas the Apostle, 2119 Stillwater Avenue. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Interment in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Pillars/HealthEast Hospice.
