I just heard the news. Both my wife and I had the privilege of working beside Rob in Ft. Lauderdale. He was a true gentleman and a fantastic funeral director. I can still see him driving that old Cadillac of his or his silver Saab that he adored.

All our love to his family and the numerous lives he touched.

I just found out about Rob's death. I'm in shock. I was his classmate at University of Central Oklahoma. We hung out, studied and worked together at Hunter Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. He told me he had roots in New Mexico. Rob came to New Mexico to visit us a couple of times, the last time was in 1998. My kids still ask about him, they are grown up now. He loved playing with my kids.I am still a funeral director, Rob said he was going to go to medical school when I last saw him. I haven't heard of him since. My family is very saddened by this news. We will never forget him.

Robert, or Cold Porter as he is known here in his south Florida Has House Barriers family of friends, was someone I was fortunate enough to get to know and become friends with. He always was cheerful and great to talk with would always find humor in all situations. He was always up for a challenge as well be it from one of our silly club's fun runs or competitive long distance races. Robert aka Cold Porter will be missed but always remembered with all of us.

Suddenly, he's gone. So sad. Sympathy and condolence to his family. Athletics as an integral part of living, he got that. Had fun at baseball, basketball, and hockey games with him. His running prowess is legend. Cheers to you, Good Sport.

It's been many years since I've seen you. Our time together, from the summers when I visited MN from Chicago to starting 9th grade at Cleveland Jr. High School to hanging out in Orlando, FL (where you drove up twice, once to see my son dance and once when I had a work convention) will always be etched in my memory. Not to mention the concerts, fishing, parties, time we spent in Oklahoma, and especially wrestling. I cannot turn back time, but if I could, I'd give you the old EastSide hand shake and a big hug. RIP my Brother!

He was a great brother in the hash and will be missed terribly.

We were on the opposite spectrum of runners.  Cold Porter, you were always leading the pack.  And me at the rear.  However, having the same birthday, we always shared a toast together.
RIP my friend.

We met on Trail many moons ago. He was a no name hasher with a military background who showed up out of the blue and fit right in with the regular Monday pack. Always fast and on point. He ended up with his handle due in part to his profession and in part from a little inspiration from a recent trip to my fathers grave where the famous composer and artist Cole Porter happens to be buried.  The name clicked immediately with the pack and from that day forward he was known as Cold Porter. 

I will miss Rob and will remember him as a friend.  See you on Trail.  On On

I knew Rob, aka Cold Porter, from our common love for hashing. He would often be one of the first to greet me when I arrived to events and we frequently had great conversations at the on-afters. Cold Porter, as we knew him at the South Florida HHH was the first hasher I met in 2006 when I moved to South Florida. He was always a front runner. I last saw him at his last birthday run. He will be missed.

I just read all of the beautiful words being said of my dear friend Rob. I didn't 
realize how much of a sports fan he was. At the end of the NHL season he took myself and fellow Hasher to a Minnesota Wild game with the Panthers  a few rows from the ice right by the Minnesota Wild bench. The Wild beat the Panthers  that night. His Hash Runs were always great long trails and always drew large crowds. He will always be in mine and everyone's thoughts every Wednesday especially when we meet in  Palm  Beach for our weekly Hash. He traveled all throughout the World for his lust for Hashing.  Beautiful Person with a smile that touched all that knew him. I will miss him. Love to his family. Rob Acosta, may you Rest in Eternal Peace.

Rob (Cold Porter to me and so many others) was a kind and gentle soul. While I only got to know him well within the last year or so, I valued our friendship and his dedication to the sport of running. He was a good person who cared about everyone. We will miss him very dearly.

I don't know what to say to all of you Acosta's.  You were all our brothers (and sister) while growing up.  I don't think there was ever a day we didn't see one or many of you.  Robbie being the youngest was so kind and we all protected him.  Rest In Peace Robbie.  You are all in my prayers.

My heart aches, loss of a good man that I truly admire even though we have not stayed in touch over the years.  His death leaves a heartache no one can heal and love that leaves me memories no one can steal.  

I agree with Dana where I enjoyed having my 1st time eating soft tacos that were fried with the Acosta family.  It is a memory I visit every time I make fried tacos today.  You will be missed.

My family sends its thoughts and prayers to the Acosta family at this time. I have many fond memories of my youth with Rob and your family. Rob and your family were my 1st friends when we moved to the lower east side in the late 70's. I have specific flash backs that bring fond thoughts; the 1st time I heard Tom Petty, Alice Cooper, Ted Nuggent was at the Acosta home. I remember playing pin ball on your awesome pinball machine, watching the 1979 World Series and the Pirates beating the Orioles and Earl Weaver; driving home from a Johnson wrestling tournament with your dad in his big ole dodge truck in 1980 and listening to the miracle on ice on the radio; hanging with your dad after Rob's graduation party ended and having your dad make us Tacos- 1st time I had soft tacos fried. These are just few moments that stand out. Then after we both went in the military we crossed paths again on the gulf coast of Florida and got together a few times - with the best memory being attending the 1999 final four together. Sorry we didn't stay in touch. I will remember Rob as a good friend, a patriot and sports fan. Again my families thoughts and prayers are with the Acosta family at this time. Even though I will not make Rob's memorial I will be there in thought

I remember Robbie as a kid hanging out with my younger brother Roger Goff.  Robbie and his brothers David and Daniel would stop over and play in our back yard on  DeSoto Street. Rest in peace Robbie.

Shocked and terribly sad.  Went to school together from elementary to high school.  Wrestled together and would hang out when he came home.  We'd sit together during lunch and give each other crap.  I miss you Rob!  Rest in Peace my friend.
