Rose Brennhofer (Richie)

Rose passed away on August 31st, 2026, after a 15-month battle with cancer. She was born to Frank and Clara Richie on November 10th,1924 in North Hudson, Wisconsin. Rose had 2 older sisters, Lu and Florence and 1 younger sister, Eleanor.

Rose grew up in North Hudson. She proudly served her country as a member of the US Marine Corps. She moved to St. Paul MN with her younger sister Eleanor where they rented an apartment and found jobs. She met Gene Brennhofer and after dating for a while, they were married. They lived on the east side of St Paul and raised 3 children, Brenda, Mark and Art. Rose was a devout Catholic and joined Blessed Sacrament Church over 60 years ago so her children could attend that school. After 17 years of marriage, she was divorced from Gene and finished raising her children while continuing to work full-time at West Publishing. In 1988 she was able to sell her home and buy the townhome she lived in for the rest of her life. Rose retired from West Publishing at the age of 64 and started spending time with the first of her many grandchildren, bowling and playing bingo a couple times a week. She also crocheted afghans and baby outfits not only for her children and grandchildren, but also for her many nieces and nephews and then their children. As she aged it became more difficult to get to bingo, bowl and make the afghans and outfits. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 2025, and it started to take its toll mentally and physically. One of her goals as her grandchildren grew older was to see all of them get married. She was able to achieve this as her only granddaughter was married just days before she passed.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Clara Richie, Sisters Lu (Al) Sabol, Florence (John) Schullo, Eleanor (Jim) Sablak and Daughter in-law Cheri Brennhofer. She is survived by her 3 children Brenda (Mike) DaBruzzi, Mark (Tina) Brennhofer and Art Brennhofer, 6 grandchildren Henry (April), TJ (Laura), Bob (Nicole), Denise (Cooper), Donald (Corie) and Rick (Karen) and 14 great grandchildren.

The Brennhofer family holds a deep appreciation for the exceptional care provided by the Minneapolis VA Hospital during her illness.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, September 9 in Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave, St. Paul MN 55106.

Visitation will also be held at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2119 Stillwater Ave E, Saint Paul, MN 55119, US, on September 10, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the same location on September 10, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

A Committal Service will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Cemetery, 1201 O'Keefe Rd, Hudson, WI 54016, US, on September 10, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
