Susan Kay Fruen

February 13, 1943 – April 26, 2026
Obituary of Susan Kay Fruen
IN THE CARE OF

Wulff Funeral Home

Susan Kay Fruen, age 83, of Maplewood, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 13, 1943, to parents Neil Warren (Mildred) and Ruthanne “Lady” Schlee (Louis), all of whom preceded her in death, along with her sister, Sallianne Warren, her beloved grandparents, and many dear friends.

Susan met Charles Faber (Celine) in Chicago, and together they shared many meaningful years. They eventually made their home in Plymouth, Minnesota, where Susan built a successful career as a dental office manager. In her later years, she worked at Mystic Lake, where she was known for her professionalism, kindness, and warmth—qualities that reflected her generous spirit throughout her life.

She was a devoted and loving mother to David Faber (Patsy) and Wendy Klaas (Jerry). Nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her children, who loved and cared deeply for her.

Susan was a proud grandmother to Emily Susan Schwartzel (Mikhail) and Riley James Hughes (Justine), and a cherished great-grandmother to Lilith Annabel, who brought her endless happiness and delight.

She is also survived by her brother, William Schlee (Julie); cousins Clarice Shanks, Cathy Wampole, and Roberta Megara; nieces Kathryn Sinkewiz (Scott), Chantel Brown, and Chris Hays; nephews Scott Prentiss and Curt Brown; and countless treasured friends.

Susan was truly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her beautiful and generous heart guided every interaction, and she never hesitated to give her time, love, or support to anyone in need.

She had a special way of lighting up a room with her warm smile and kind words. A lifelong lover of books, she found great joy in reading and in the company of those she loved.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Shores of Lake Phalen, and especially to her nurse, Roz Fayh, for the compassionate care and attention shown to Susan.

Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the kindness she shared so naturally, and in the family who will forever carry her in their hearts.

Rest in peace, Mom.

With all our love,

David and Wendy
