Tim was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, in 1960, and he moved with his family to Worthington, MN, in 1963. At an early age, his aptitude for art and design was remarkable, and he pursued these interests at Worthington High School. After graduation, he lived for a year with his uncle Jim Sprout and family in Riverside, CA, prior to completing his bachelor’s degree in technical illustration and commercial design at Bemidji State University and a degree in philosophy from St. Cloud State University.
Tim loved camping, bird-watching, art, reading, and international travel, and he met Lisa Weicht in England, where they were students together living at Alnwick Castle. He and Lisa have two talented children, Alice and Lucy, of whom Tim was enormously proud. Tim loved to teach his girls about astronomy and science when they were little.
In the last decade of his life in particular, he struggled with epilepsy and anxiety disorder and complications related to these conditions. While he grew isolated in later years, he never lost his wit and curiosity—and he will be missed by those who loved him and relish memories of better times and sunnier years.
