

Kathleen Olbis Steen, born September 29, 1932, passed away on July 4, 2026. A devoted wife, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, dedicated teacher of American History, gardener, and lifelong dog enthusiast, Kathleen was widely respected for her decades of service to the sport of purebred dogs. She was an accomplished breeder and exhibitor of champion German Shepherd Dogs, an AKC-approved judge for 50 years, and a valued leader in the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, Monmouth County Kennel Club, and Atlanta Kennel Club.
Kathleen was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Georgia.
A memorial and reception will be held for her Atlanta community friends on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the South Forsyth Memorial Chapel, 3545 Peachtree Pkwy, Suwanee GA 30024. 470-375-1192. A private funeral mass will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2026, in New Jersey.
She will be interred at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Freehold, New Jersey, with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard John Steen; her brother, John A. Olbis; her sister-in-law, Caroline Faber Olbis; her niece, Karen Olbis; and her stepson, David John Steen. She is survived by her stepchildren, Paul and Michelle Steen, Leonard Steen Jr., Maggi and Bob Ware, and Francesca Steen; her grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends who loved her.
