Nancy Schoonmaker King, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 66. Nancy built a life full of warmth, purpose, and deep connection, in Syracuse, New York where she was born, and later in Atlanta, Georgia where she called home.
Nancy earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from LeMoyne College and her MBA from Syracuse University. She used her academic foundation and natural gift for people to build a distinguished career in education, human resources, and personnel management.
Nancy was a faithful member of North Point Church, where she found deep community through her small group friendships that were a true source of strength and meaning throughout her life. She was also a dedicated advocate for community service, generously giving her time and heart to the Light The Night organization through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. And of course, Nancy was proud of her Canadian heritage, a thread passed down by her mother and woven through her identity.
Above all else, Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and fiercely proud grandmother. She found her greatest happiness in the simple, sacred moments of family life, time spent with her children, the joy of being with her grandchildren, and the deep privilege of making those she loved feel heard, supported, and cherished.
She is survived by her husband, David Passino; her children, Drew King, Alexa King, and Amanda King; her stepchildren, Ashton Passino, Caitlin Passino, and Justin Passino; and her grandchildren, Sophia King, Callie King, Barrett King, and Violet Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, James Leon King, whose memory she carried with her always.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy not measured in accolades, but in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her wisdom, and her boundless love.
A memorial service will be held on May 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at South Forsyth Memorial Chapel, located at 3545 Peachtree Parkway, Suwanee, GA 30024. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 1955 Creekstone Point Drive, Cumming, GA 30041. Parking is available along one side of the street and in the grass across the street. For those who are unable to find parking nearby, additional parking is available at the church which is a short walk over to the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Nancy’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night campaign at https://diy.bloodcancerunited.org/nancyking, a cause she believed in deeply.
