

Roy Eugene Claassen, 79, of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on June 16, 2026. Born on November 4, 1946, in Atascadero, California, he was the beloved son of the late Edgar Claassen and Lois Franklin Claassen LaTorre.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanie, whom he married in October 1987, in Pebble Beach, California. He was the loving father of son, Brian (Anna-Marie) and grandsons, Wright and Turner; son, Scott (Maribeth) and grandsons, Henry, Jimmy and Amos; and daughter, Ashley Claassen. He is the brother of Richard (Maureen) Claassen, David (Louise) Claassen, Eric (Rosella) Claassen and sister, Elisa Claassen.
After graduating from San Luis Obispo High School, Roy enlisted in the United States Army in 1966 earning the rank of Sergeant, proudly serving his country.
Roy was an entrepreneur at heart. Beginning shortly after his military service, he co-founded a Shelby after-market accessories company, later selling to Ford Motor Company. Upon returning to California in 1971, he co-founded Monterey Mushrooms Company. In 1981 Roy acquired an original equipment manufacturing company and in 1983 co-founded a farming industrial supply company, both located in Salinas, California. Roy was a member of the Salinas Rotary Club (President 1993-94) and a member of the Salinas Chamber of Commerce.
After relocating to Georgia in 1994, Roy was an active member of the Church of The Apostles in Atlanta. A man of faith and service, his Christian spirit and exuberance for life shone through touching the lives of friends and strangers alike.
Roy enjoyed reading, tennis, traveling and spending time with friends, family and his pets, especially his pal Oreo. He greatly enjoyed sharing his homes with friends, graciously hosting tennis team parties, Oktoberfest celebrations and home Bible studies. Roy will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., with visitation at 3 p.m., at South Forsyth Memorial Chapel, 3545 Peachtree Parkway, Suwanee, Georgia 30024.
