Surrounded by his loving family, John Malcolm MacKinnon passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born at Meadows Road, he was the son of the late Neil P. and Bessie (Fraser) MacKinnon.
He was a member of St. Mary’s parish, East Bay and was a retired Steelworker with over 30 years of service. Malcolm was a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs Fan who loved to read, but even more so, to entertain with a good story or talk politics.
Malcolm will be always remembered by his wife Marguerite (MacKinnon); daughters Ann Marie MacInnes (Deryl), Sydney; Katie and Maggie, both at home; sons Edward (Kim), Calgary; Robert (Julie); Art (Gina), both of Victoria, BC; John (Brenda), Sydney and Kenny (Tracey), Baddeck. He is also survived by brothers, John, Neil, his twin Michael (Cecelia) and Bernie, all of Sydney and sisters, Mary, Theresa, both of Sydney and Minnie (Patrick), Boston, by 12 grandchildren, Cassandra, Robbie, Mathew, Corrie, Jonathan, Megan, Brianna, Kara, Mary, Abbie, Emma and one great grandchild Ambrose Malcolm.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacKinnon will take place on Monday (today) at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
