Inez C. Smalley

Springfield – Inez Ruth Cardner Smalley, age 91, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014, at Effingham Care Center in Springfield, GA. She was born in Syracuse, NY where she worked for Carrier A/C Corp. as a secretary and was selected Secretary of the Year for Carrier Corp. The summer of 1974 she moved with her family to Pooler, GA where she went to work for Southeastern A/C. In 1975 she moved to Springfield, GA where she later worked as the first secretary for the Effingham County Recreation Dept. For years, Inez and her husband, Bill, worked with the Sylvania Auction Co. and she enjoyed working so much, she finally retired at the age of 85. She was a member of Tusculum Christian Church, enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, traveling, camping and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her Husband: William Henry Smalley, Jr.; Parents: Walter B. & Edna Reed Cardner; Sons: Joseph Alan Smalley and Steven Smalley; Sister: Laura Lawrence.

Survivors: Sons and Daughters-In-Laws: Daniel & Pam Smalley of Pooler, GA and Philip & Sheryll Smalley of Guyton, GA; Daughter-In-Law: Ann Rogers Smalley of Sylvania; Family Friend: Judy Pitts of Sylvania; 8 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside Memorial Services: Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Screven County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Gary Cubbedge officiating. Burial following. Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.

Remembrances: USO Savannah Office, 340 Eisenhower Drive Bldg. 300, Suite A, Savannah, GA 31406.
