He was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on March 4, 1957. Hal served in the Army from 1977 to 1980. He graduated Marathon High School in 1975 and continued his education at Central Texas College.
He was married to Cynthia Louise Hoffman on March 4, 1977 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and they celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Hal had an extensive career in the Movie Theatre management business. Theatres he managed included Litchfield Theatre in Jacksonville, Kent Theatre in Jacksonville, Cobb Theatre in Plant City, and Movies 8 in Tallahassee. He was also partial owner for Movies 8 for several years. He worked for many years at the Fox Drive-In in Jacksonville. His love for entertainment overflowed into his passion for movies, comics, music, the Chicago Bears, and collecting memorabilia.
Hal is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Schwocho Burish. He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Drewek; his sister Kristen Burish; his father Gerald Drewek; his father’s wife Brenda Harris; his stepfather, John Burish; his children include Shawn Drewek married to Rachel Busby-Drewek, Derrick Drewek, and daughter Shanna Moseley. He had six grandchildren including Elijiah Moseley, Jeremiah Moseley, Delilah Moseley, Vada Drewek, Tamara Potter, and Taime Wattendorf. Great-grandchildren include Mia Sweatt and Vivian Gould.
On Friday, February 28th, 2020 a service will be held at the Tallahassee National Cemetery in the afternoon. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Culley’s MeadowWood ( 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL). Please contact the family for information.
