

He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 9, 1934. He grew up in the Jasper, Indiana area, served in the Army in the late 1950’s and then moved to Florida. He graduated from Florida State University with a Master’s degree in business administration.
He was married to Susanne Jane Heath on October 15, 1955, and had been married for 67 years. They were high school sweethearts.
James had a career in Office Management and Accounting with various State Agencies including the Game and Freshwater Fish Commission and the Tallahassee Housing Authority where he worked until he retired.
He was a member of the choir at Church, Knights of Columbus and was very involved in Cursillo in Tallahassee, Florida and Crossville, Tennessee Catholic churches.
James loved to garden while taking care of his yard & plants, and with that became a Master Gardener in Tennessee. He had a passion for watching, playing golf and loved watching Seminole Baseball and Football teams.
He is survived by his wife, Susanne Heath; his children, Gail Weathersbee (Theodore), Jeff Heath (Patrice) and Paula Schroeder (Scott). He has 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. James was preceded in death by father, Ralph Heath; his mother, Frances Heath; brother, Fred Heath and sister Diane Carie.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, October 2, 2023, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, located at 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida. Rosary will be said near the end of the visitation.
Funeral Church Service will be held at 11:30 AM, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, located at 653 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee, Florida.
Burial will follow the service at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park, located at 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida.
