Agustin Fleites, 82, went to his eternal resting place with the Lord on December 23, 2018. Son of the late Fermin Fleites of Rodas, Las Villas, Cuba and Concepcion Arocena Izquierdo of Puerto Padre, Cuba. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Maria Blanca Fleites (Martinez); three children: Agustin J. (Mylene), Eduardo J. (Joyelle), and Luis A. (Julie); five grandchildren: Daniel A., Marina C., Alexandra M., Diego M., and Sofia N.; sisters-in-law Clotilde “Cotin” Fleites (Casas) and Maria del Pilar Fernandez, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings Oscar “Tico”, Fermin “Cucho”, and Angela “Guely” and brothers-in-law Jose “Junior” Hernandez and Luis E. “Wicho” Fernandez.
Agustin was educated by the Christian Brothers at Colegio de la Salle and attended the Universidad Catolica de Santo Tomas de Villanueva , both in Havana, Cuba, where he forged strong friendships that last to this day. He pursued post-graduate studies at the University of Madrid in Spain under a scholarship awarded by the Instituto de Cultura Hispanica. His Catholic education set the moral compass that guided him through life. He emigrated to the US in 1961 where he began a long and successful career in accounting and finance that took him and his family throughout Latin America and Europe. He was fortunate to retire early and, with his wife Maria, continued to travel extensively fulfilling a lifelong passion. Agustin was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. All those who crossed his many paths remember a humble, caring, and Christian man - a loyal friend. May God rest his soul.
The family will receive family and friends at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Tampa from 11:00-11:45 am on Thursday, January 3 with a funeral mass at noon celebrated by Father Ramon Hernandez. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater.
