For the rest of my life, Alfred will always be a hero to me.  God sent him into my husband, Ellis's life at a time when Ellis was desperately in need of an advisor to help him reconstruct and detach himself from a tumultuous mindset due to the malevolent influence of a company colleague whom he finally fired, thanks to Alfred's support and guidance.   Alfred's moxie, confidence, and wise words actively live in Ellis' memory and have become strong threads in his business practices.  The first five letters of Alfred's last name say it all!

Alfred, though only 1 month than I, was always my hero. On a boat, tennis court, or sportscar, he was a force to admire, even when I could beat him. He won ALL disagreements with a wonderful combination of grace and fircefulness. When asked if  he trusted a new doctor, he replied, “why would I trust you? I just met you!” He always got to the core of an issue!
As he did, so too, I wish the best for his boys and wonderful Sheila!

Sheila, I missed you guys and reached out to contact you and Alfred when I just learned of his passing. I am so very sorry.
To me, Alfred, born 1 month before me was a larger than life inspiration. I admired all his multiple talents from working in his uncles’ barber shop and grocery as a teen to financing college by wrestling dorm mates for $ and simultaneously working a job while in business school and then working for a big firm and realizing he could do it better on his own and succeeding at it. He generously shared his many acquisitions humbly and with charm so I truly loved him and am heartbroken to learn of his passing. You were always a major governor of his impulses and that role made you inseparable from everything I admired, so I love you too. I wish you and your boys all the best, Peter Mebel

Mr. Angelone, affectionately known as the Big Bear, by his close friends, was loved by all for his fairness, he was a strong defendant for the unjust.  

Before  coming to work at The Tryall Club as the Tennis Director, my interview process involved me fly to Boston to be interviewed by him.  I remembered meeting him in the fancy restaurant and bar, I was dressed in a suit and so was he.

I enjoyed our daily morning doubles  matches, where I would play with his wife Sheila.  They were avid tennis players and played at once a day, sometimes twice. They supported all tennis events.  Everyone from the tennis department misses them dearly.

One of my fond memories of Mr. Angelone was, once this very wealthy lady, who came on vacation on her private plane, got her court times mixed up and started yelling at me outside the tennis shop, demanding that I fixed it.  After resolving the situation, which was clearly her fault, I reported the incident to the Angelones' as Mrs. Angelone chaired the Tennis Department. Mr. Angelone stepped in and instructed that we should not give the lady anymore court time for the rest of her stay.  He went on to advise me, that if anyone ever starts to yell at you, just tell them to speak to the Manager or the Board of Directors.  He said, we did not employ you for people to shout at you.  This piece of advice I now pass on to my subordinates.  

I really missed him from being at Tryall, he was true to his friends, a man of his word, a gentleman of complete integrity.

I am so sorry for your loss. Alfred’s passing is a lost to us all.  Connie and I send our deepest sympathies.  

Alfred was a mentor, a friend and I considered him my business dad.  He had dramatic impact on my growth from a seat-of-the-pants entrepreneur to the businessperson I became.  He left an indelible mark on me professionally and personally.  And for that, I will be forever grateful.

I will never forget the first time I met Alfred.  He had interest in buying my first company.  He arrived, in classic “Alfred-style”, in a Rolls-Royce, full-length fur coat and man-bag.  He was flamboyant, gracious, and forthright.  That was the beginning of a 30-year relationship I value to this day.  He challenged me and counseled me throughout my career.  I was so fortunate to have had such valuable access to his point of view, experience, and wisdom. 

In recent years we would meet for drinks and dinner.  I will miss that.  I always left our evenings feeling he was proud of what I had accomplished, knowing full well he was instrumental in it.
Others have said it already, but it is worth saying again.  Alfred was larger than life.  He will be forever appreciated and genuinely missed.

Alfred was such a down to earth man and always sincere. He always told you like it is. Very knowledgeable about food. My best memory was when Alfred, Biah Maragh and I played golf for the first time together and I was 4 under after 6 holes then the heavens opened up and we never got to finish. I've never been 4 under par in my life, just one of those days. 
My prayers are with his family now and may you find comfort in knowing that he has left quite legacy.

My Grandpa, Alfred Angelone, was my idol. I looked up to him my entire life and admired the life that he had. I grew up and watched how successful he became and how great of a Grandfather he was to me. Last summer I gladly got the opportunity to spend my summer with him, on his boat, helping him around the house, learning about his life and spending time with him and sharing experiences with him creating memories throughout the summer. He told me his story of how he became the successful man he was and I want to live my life to the fullest just as he did.

I was very saddened to hear the news about Alfred. Mr and Mrs Angelone generously allowed friends of their sons into their homes and lives. Some of my fondest memories as a young man involve Alfred and his family. I can remember one instance when I was about to marry Patty and I was with Doug having a cigar with his dad in the living room. He was happy for me but had some great words of advice which I carry with me to this day. I wish you all strength so soon you can celebrate life because hopefully he brought you all much joy.

Alfred was a person I deeply admired, trusted and respected.
He always showed his love for his businesses and treated his employees with respect and appreciation for their efforts.
ASA customers were treated fairly and honestly and they in turn appreciated ASA.  Many to this day are still part of the ASA family.

I very much enjoyed the annual meetings, Christmas dinners and, even more, the 5 year dinners at your home.  Alfred always shared his many stories during these wonderful occasions.

ASA became very much a part of my life and still is 41 year later!
Those of us who worked together at ASA became lifelong friends.
I am so appreciative of the lifelong opportunity Alfred provided me.

My God provide you all with comfort during this period knowing how much Alfred meant to so many of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.

My last memory of Alfred was seeing him with Sheila dancing on a lovely night at Tryall during a party at "Point of View",   
The terrific music was irresistible to her. 
He seemed  happy to be her stalwart partner, smiling  as she
danced blissfully - his arm raised holding her hand just firmly enough for her to twirl under and be supported by his other hand as she finished the move.   It was a happy sight.

My deepest condolences to the family Angelone. 
Fifteen years ago I had the opportunity to attend a meeting at the Tryall Club in regards my suspension as member of the Club.
It was a very difficult meeting as the Club sold me a piece of land with the promise to get me the property title in 3 months and after 9 months I declared my intentions to sue the Club.
Alfred was part of the Board and was the only boardmember that understood and addressed the situation in the right direction.
As a lawyer, I can assure you that Alfred save a lot of headackes and money to the Club. He was a really good undertanding person. RIP
