

Miranda, Ana Margarita Garcia, 85, of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and graduated high school from Academia Sagrado Corazon in 1957. She attended Barry College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in French in 1961. She was a homemaker, enjoyed being a mother and spending time with family and friends. She loved dogs, and her hobbies included cake decorating and ceramics, but her greatest passions were her family and her faith. She worked several years as a secretary for Hillsborough County Public Assistance and was the first parish secretary at St. Timothy Catholic Church. For 11 years she was the main caregiver of her husband of 44 years, Lt. Col. Jose L. Miranda, USAF, who predeceased her in 2006. She is also predeceased by her father Pedro Garcia-Lugo, mother Blanca Rosa Pont and brother Pedro Humberto Garcia-Pont. She is survived by daughter Mariangeli, sons Jose (Lori), Mario, Fernando (Anu), grandchildren Joseph, Roberto, Ricardo and Aryana; and sister Mari Rosa (Gustavo). She was a Roman Catholic and a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS), a group of lay Catholics who live out the Carmelite spiritual tradition in their daily lives. Members commit to a life of prayer, community and spiritual growth.
