It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of Andrew Keighley. Born on January 1, 1958, Andrew lived a life full of warmth, humor, and numerous achievements before his passing on August 5, 2023. He is survived by his wife Janet, children James, Laura, William, and granddaughter, Adeline.
Andrew was a man of great character, brimming with a kind heart and a robust sense of humor that went hand-in-hand with a sharp Yorkshire wit. His ability to mix laughter with sincerity often lightened the atmosphere and brought smiles to those around him. He was deeply caring and always willing to lend a helping hand to all he encountered.
Andrew was the oldest of five siblings, growing up in Bradford, Yorkshire. He was a bright academic and found his athletic calling as a runner, developing into a cross-country champion in his young teens. His passion for English football carried across the Pennines and towards his team, Manchester United.
“Pounding over every blade of grass, competing as if he would rather die of exhaustion than lose, he inspired all around him. I felt it was an honor to be associated with such a player.” Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United Manager, 1986–2013
Andrew was a fearless leader and put every ounce of energy into his family and his work. He had a remarkable and lengthy career, commencing as a graphic retoucher for a printing company in the north of England at the tender age of 16. This journey led him to cultivate a thriving professional Sales career in the United Kingdom and subsequently, embracing a new chapter in his career when relocating to the United States.
In the early 2010s, the Keighley family began a new life in Tampa, Florida. It was an opportunity to be closer to Janet’s parents during their golden years in The Sunshine State. Professionally adapting to an evolving industry, he ventured into the realm of hospitality. His genuine desire to assist others and forge new relationships knew no bounds.
Beyond time spent with his family, his favorite pastime was fishing. He found peace by the ocean and the various fishing points around the family homestead. His career took him to far and wide places around central Florida, meeting all kinds of colorful characters and making thousands of guest experiences better without ever crossing paths with them.
His most significant accomplishments, however, were his loved ones. Andrew was a devoted husband to his wife, Janet Keighley. He was an exceptional father to his three children, James, Laura, and William Keighley. They have been the pillars of his life, and his love for them was boundless.
His kindness, humor, and leadership will be deeply missed. Andrew's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and patience, and his memory will continue to inspire those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
With love, The Keighley Family
