Anthony “Tony” Saladino, Jr., 87 of Tampa, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2018. Tony was born and raised in Tampa by his Sicilian parents and attended Jefferson High School. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonino (Nino) and Maria Saladino, sisters Nadie Lopez, Mary Callahan and Rose Traina. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Helen Yanez Saladino; his children, Cindy Saladino, Tammy Adwell (Wesley), Gary Saladino (Carmen); his grandchildren, Nathan Saladino, Nadie Rae Saladino and Shane Adwell.
Tony worked for Winn Dixie for 25 years as produce manager, plant manager for Schiro Produce Company for several years, and a sales rep for Dopson-Hicks Food Brokerage Co. for 20 years. Tony & Helen enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially their trips to Europe. Tony was involved with the Optimists Club of Northwest Tampa and enjoyed playing the Easter Bunny and Santa for charitable events. Tony & Helen were involved with Wellswood Little League/Wellswood Pony Baseball for 38 years. He became President twice, with the senior field being named after him. March 5, 2005 was declared Tony Saladino, Jr. day by Mayor Pam Iorio. On March 31, 2005, the Wellswood complex was renamed the Tony Saladino, Jr. Wellswood Baseball Complex.

Visitation will take place on October 19, 2018 from 2:30 - 4:00 pm and Catholic Funeral Mass at 4:00 pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 5225 N. Himes Av., Tampa, FL 33614. Celebration of Life will follow from 6:00 to 10:00 pm at Sons & Daughters of Italy Hall, 3315 W. Lemon St., Tampa, FL 33607.
