Tony grew up in Palmetto Beach, a neighborhood just south of Ybor City. For most of his life Tony was a happy fixture in the greater South Tampa area.
Tony was a beloved member of the Tampa Bay community. His kindness, generosity and vibrant personality touched the lives of countless people throughout the area. Known for his warmth and genuine spirit, Tony built lasting friendships and earned the admiration of colleagues, neighbors and friends alike.
Tony was best known for his work and affiliation with the Tampa Tribune and WFLA-TV, where he served as a photographer and news contributor. Through his photographer’s lens, Tony captured moments of history and humanity that resonated deeply with the community he loved so much.
Among his most notable accomplishments was the publication of a book featuring photographs that he took of President John F. Kenndy, during the President’s visit to Tampa in November 1963, which occurred several days before the President’s assassination in Dallas. Tony’s work preserved an important moment in American history and reflected his passion and talent for storytelling through photography.
Throughout his life, Tony was committed to giving back to his community, both through his civic activities in Tampa but also in the very special gift of his talent, encouragement, support and inspiration to believe in themselves and their ability, that he provided to so many young ladies who were competing in beauty pageants in the Tampa area.
During his retirement years, Tony used the internet, social media and humor to educate, entertain and pontificate on many subjects; much to the delight of his many friends.
Tony’s legacy will live on not only through his remarkable body of work, but also through the many lives he enriched with his compassion, humor and unwavering generosity.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
