Barbara Hardy Luikart (64), beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2025, in Tampa.
Born on December 7, 1960, in Lakeland, Barbara lived a life defined by love, joy, strength, and unwavering commitment to those around her. A gifted clarinetist, she began her academic path as a performance major at Indiana University, later following her passion for justice to the University of Florida, where she earned her law degree. She spent her adult life in Tampa, building a distinguished career in commercial real estate law.
Barbara was devoted to her family, and everything she ever wanted she found in her husband, Don Luikart, and their two children, Vlady and Karly. Her family was her greatest achievement and source of joy.
Athletic and energetic, Barbara found peace and strength in movement. She loved running, playing tennis, and staying active, embodying vitality in both body and spirit. Among her families’ fondest memories is her hosting of the Hardy Thanksgiving—an unbroken family gathering that has endured for over 50 years.
Barbara's warmth extended beyond her immediate family. She was a constant source of love and support to her wide circle of friends. She had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and embraced. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, music, chocolate chip cookies, and the dogs she cherished.
Barbara will be remembered for her boundless love, a gathering of family and friends will be planned for later this summer.
