

Carmen was a lifelong resident of Tampa and Odessa, north of Tampa. Carmen was always a hard worker. At a young age, Carmen began work in ladies fashion at Diana’s Super Outlet in downtown Tampa. Later she moved to Maas Brothers department store. When Maas Brothers opened at Westshore Mall, Carmen played an intricate role as a department manager growing many of the departments, including the exclusive gourmet department, where famous chefs from all over the country would come to demonstrate.
Carmen and her husband of 66 years, Angel, who preceded her in death in 2007, lived life to its fullest. They enjoyed traveling abroad, saw two World’s Fairs, visited New York City to see many Broadway plays, went gambling in Las Vegas many times, drove to Tennessee to the Country Music Fan Fair, and had so many adventures together and with their dear friends. Carmen and Angel truly had a blessed marriage.
Carmen was known for her helpfulness, her devotion to caring for loved ones, her extreme cleaning, her love for playing cards, her delicious cooking and her smart aleck sense of humor. She was loved and will be missed greatly.
Carmen was Preceded in death by her daughter Diana Guerra and Husband Angel Guerra. Survived by children Della Escobio, Angel Guerra Jr., Alice Lavandera (Ralph), Dick Guerra (Sarah); 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren.

A celebration of life for Carmen will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home, 7209 N. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, FL 33614, on April 12, 2025, at 1:00.
