Carmen Pando Orrantia, 91, of Tampa, passed away October 11, 2018. She was born in Villaviciosa, Asturias, Spain and came to Tampa in 1950. Carmen worked for Maas Brothers in the interior design department and ultimately owned her own business specializing in slip covers and all types of home décor.
Carmen will be remembered for her strength, humor, and dedication to her family. She was an inspiring example of ambition and courage, with a personality that drew love and affection from everyone who knew her. The revered matriarch of her family, Carmen will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fernando F. Orrantia; brothers, Alfredo, Manolo, Angel and Jose-Maria. Carmen is survived by her brother, Gonzalo; children, Diana (Vince) DeNitto, Sylvia (Mitchel) Hoffman and Michael (Colette) Orrantia; grandchildren, Vincent M. (Rachel) DeNitto, Melissa (Erik) Leto, David B. (Stacy) Hoffman and Emily (Amanda) Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Zachary, Isabella, Ethan and Olivia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17th from 10am to 11am at Blount Curry Macdill, 605 S. Macdill Ave Tampa. A service will begin at 11am followed immediately by interment at Centro Español Memorial Park.
