On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, Charley Young, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 84. He was born November 14, 1934 in New Madrid, Missouri. He was the second child to the late Coleman and Lena Young. He started Charley O. Young & Sons Trucking in 1962 and moved to Florida in 1972. He continued as the owner and operator of his trucking company until he retired in 1997. After his retirement Charley and his wife Dorothy, traveled extensively in their motorhome. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, witty sense of humor, willingness to help others, and his generous spirit. Charley enjoyed the outdoors, tinkering around in his yard, and working on his many “projects”, but the highlight of his life was spending time with his family.
Charley is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy Young; his children, Sheila Carpenter (Tommy), Martin Young, Cheryl Bell (Matthew), and Debra Kidwell (Paul); 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, Robert and Riley Young and sister, Esther Meyers.
Charley was preceded in death by a son, Michael Young and a daughter, Joan Campbell. He was also preceded in death by six of his brothers.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service, 1:00 pm. Monday, February 4, 2019 at West Gate Baptist Church, 5121 Kelly Rd., Tampa, FL. A visitation will start 1 hour prior at Noon. Burial will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa.
