

Cheryl Dawn Husbands, 44, of Tampa died on Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was a Tampa native and a proud graduate of Chamberlain High School, Class of 1988. At Chamberlain, Cheryl lettered in Band, where she played the trombone. She went on to attend Hillsborough Community College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree, and worked taking class notes for students with disabilities. Cheryl worked in the inventory industry for several years, and later worked as a member of the office staff of Levin Financial Group – Mass Mutual, for many years. Recently, Cheryl became a graduate of Concorde College, where she studied medical billing and coding. She was in the process of studying for her certification exam in that field before her death.
Cheryl was an active member of Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, playing the trombone in the church orchestra. She also served for many years in the Grace Notes handbell choir and in the Chancel Choir. She loved music, and especially enjoyed singing with her family. Cheryl also enjoyed participating in Bible studies and attending the Ladies’ Retreats. Additionally, Cheryl was a 25 year member of Mystic Chapter #110, Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Marshal on several occasions. She was a charter member of the Mystic Ringers Bell Choir.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Anne (Groh) Husbands. She is survived by her father, Charles Lloyd Husbands, of Tampa; her sisters, Mary Alice Husbands, Julie Anne Husbands, and Patricia Suzanne Husbands, all of Tampa; her aunt, Mary Mengee, of Newfield, New York; her aunt and uncle, Jackie and Don Hargis, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; dozens of cousins; and many beloved friends. Cheryl was known for her sunny disposition, her gentle spirit, and her infectious laugh. Her early death represents a huge loss for her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church, 2902 W. Fletcher Avenue, Tampa, on Sunday, June 1 at 3:00, followed by the funeral service at 4:00. Graveside services will be Monday, June 2 at 10:00 AM, Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Music Ministry of Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church.
