

Christopher Quesada passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on 11 August 2012. Chris was born in Tampa on Sept 23 1926 and has resided in Tampa for all of his life. Chris grew up in the Ybor City area and completed all of his schooling in Tampa. During his adult years, he served proudly in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. While in the US Coast Guard, Chris served on-board a US Navy Destroyer Escort vessel in the Pacific Ocean Campaign. He was employed by the City of Tampa as supervisor for the Auto Maintenance Division for 25 years and retired from the City of Tampa .He loved fishing and fixing cars , he was a master mechanic that could understand and fix any automobile problem at any time. Chris was preceded in death by his Mother (Pilar Quesada/Martinez) and his father Juan Manuel Quesada and four brothers; Evelio Quesada, Neno Quesada, Manuel Quesada and Robert Quesada, also his grandson Nicolas Alfred Martoglio and Great-grandson Amaury Rivera. . Chris is survived by his wife Estella Quesada/Gonzalez whom he met in 1944 and married 66 years ago. He is also survived by two daughters Nancy Lee Martoglio(Alfred) and Irene Quesada/Cortes (Luis) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Nancy Marie Martiglio, Nicolas Alfred Martoglio, Nadine Irene Dewitt, and Nicole Noel Rivera, Jose Luis Cortes and Ruben Alberto Cortes. The great-grandchildren are Alana, Elisia, Ruby, Jack, Isabel, Alexis, Elijah, and Aanijah. Also surviving is his sister Marina Quesada/Garcia of Tampa. Chris loved being surrounded by his family and enjoyed family events that included his brothers, sister, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During his retirement years his favorite past-times were fishing and visiting flea markets all over Hillsborough County. The family plans a memorial service and celebration of his life at 10AM on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Gonzalez Funeral Home 7209 N. Dale Mabry Hwy Tampa, FL. Inurnment will follow Memorial service at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Sleep Foundation.
