Clarice was born in Pittsburgh as Patricia Neff, and was soon adopted by Daniel and Gladys Jenkins and named Clarice Charlotte Jenkins. She lived in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania and several other communities around Pittsburgh until a teenager. Daniel Jenkins passed early in Clarice’s life. Gladys later married George Wagner, and the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. Clarice attended the University of South Florida and received a teaching degree. She worshiped at Largo Alliance Church under the loving care of its pastor, Arnold Johnson and his wife Mary, with whom she maintained a lifelong friendship. Clarice married Dale Sullivan, but tragically was with him for just three years before brain cancer took Dale’s life. In 1974 she married Frederick Woodrum, moved to West Virginia, and gave birth to her only son, Daniel, in 1975.
As a mother, Clarice was wholly devoted to her son. She left the public school system and opened her own preschool, which she ran for ten years, giving her the opportunity to be near Daniel as he grew. Later, Clarice and Fred divorced. In 1997 Clarice, Daniel, and Gladys moved to Town ‘n Country in Tampa, Florida. Clarice cared for her mother until Gladys passed in 2005. She continued to touch the lives of children by babysitting for numerous families until her health no longer allowed it. She enjoyed taking long drives with Daniel and visiting antique stores. Country home decor was her art, and the home she leaves behind is her masterpiece. She maintained her home, created a beautiful garden in her yard, and cooked delicious meals -- including her fried chicken, which will never be recreated.
Clarice is preceded in death by her father, Daniel Jenkins, her mother Gladys Elam Jenkins Wagner, her stepfather George Wagner, her first husband Dale Sullivan, and her second husband Frederick Woodrum.
Clarice is survived by her son, Daniel, and two cats, Jaspar and Winki.
There will be no public memorial services.
