Workforce Liaison and Fitness Coordinator with the Arts Conservatory for Teens (ACT), Company Fire Support Officer, Florida National Guard, CrossFit Coach, Daniel (Dan) “Brock” Joseph Roberto Brockunier returned home to his Lord, after a valiant fight with stage four bile duct cancer, January 22, 2019 in Tampa, FL, at the age of 26. Daniel is survived by his parents, Anne Crowley of Port Tobacco, Maryland, Nicholas Brockunier of St. Petersburg, FL, and sister Angela Brockunier of Los Angeles, CA. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith McFarlane, Joseph Crowley, Eloise Brockunier, Samuel Brockunier, and cousin Lane “Chip” Parsons II. Daniel was born on December 10, 1992 in Tecun Uman, San Marcos, Guatemala. He was adopted as an infant by his parents Anne Crowley and Nicholas Brockunier in March of 1993. Daniel graduated from Riverdale Baptist High School, Upper Marlboro, MD, in 2011. He also attended Maurice McDonough in Pomfret, MD. He graduated from the University of Tampa with a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Criminology, in 2016. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Georgia Army National Guard, as a field artillery officer, in 2016. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, Florida Army National Guard in 2018. Daniel was accomplished at physical fitness and won several awards in his military service. He motivated and inspired others to be their best mentally and physically in all they did. He mentored at-risk youths in St. Petersburg and encouraged them to go beyond all limits. He was passionate about leading everyone he came into contact with to their highest potential. He was an active and dedicated member of the Grace Family Church of South Tampa, FL. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1st at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, Macdill, Tampa, FL from 2-4pm and 5-8pm. Family Reflections and Short Prayers will be at 7:00pm. A funeral is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2nd at Grace Family Church, South Tampa Campus, FL. Visiting pastor, Christopher Davis, will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Daniel’s life. The family would like to thank John Mason NP, Drs. Priya Malik, Mintallah Haider, Howard Tuch, Jorge Marcet, Tracey Patel PA, and the incredible nurses of 6K and 8A, of Tampa General Hospital, Life Path Hospice of Tampa, FL, and all the wonderful support from Daniel’s friends and fellow service men and women, in Pinellas Park, Florida.
