Danny Lee Thornton

Danny was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Leroy Thornton and Willie Mae Williams on April 2, 1946. He went to school at Roane County High School in Kingston, Tennessee. He was married to Tamara Jo King in 1984 In Tampa, Florida. He received his AA in mechanical drafting in Nashville, TN. He worked as a piping designer for over 40 years at multiple engineering firms. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a crew chief and a hydraulic specialist on the Chinook helicopters in Vietnam. He also served in the Air Force Air National Guard Reserves.

Danny Lee Thornton is preceded in death by his father Leroy and mother Willie Mae, his brother Dana Thornton, and his step daughter Brandi Audra White.

Danny Lee Thornton is survived by his current wife Tamara of 37 years, and first wife Newanna Sue Gregory and their two daughters, Shannon and Joey Godfrey of Rome, GA and Kimberly and Sean Powell of Dallas, GA and his grandchildren Dakota and Kylee Godfrey of Rome, GA, Madison and Blake Jones of Rockmart, GA, Erica and Andrea Powell of Dallas, GA, and Kyleigh Jade Clark of Tampa, FL. Great grandchildren include Joseph and Finleigh Godfrey of Rome, GA and Lucas Jones of Rockmart, GA.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
