

She was born at Brooklyn Presbyterian Hospital, and although she was a longtime Tampa resident, was always a New Yorker at heart. Doris lived in original Carrollwood with her husband and true love of 57 years “Johnny” Jack McLaughlin. Together they raised five children.
Doris travelled the world but some of her fondest memories were spent on the Gulf Coast beaches with her family. She and Jack devoted their retirement years to enjoying their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passions included art and fashion.
Doris lived her final years at University Village where she very much appreciated the kindness of the staff.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack McLaughlin, granddaughter Doris May McLaughlin and sons-in-law Ed Nelson Jr. and Ed Cox.
She is survived by her son John McLaughlin, daughters Colleen Nelson, Darci Cox, Sallie Sock and husband Ron, and Kerry Ratchford and husband Tom; 14 grandchildren, Edward and Ian Nelson, Molly Craddock, Kelly Vaez, Jessika McLaughlin, Darren Cox, Whitney Mendes, Taylor Sock Harris, Bailey and Conner Sock, and Thomas, Evan, Haley and Hunter Ratchford; and eight great grandchildren, Brittany and Courtney Nelson, Kelsie and Liam Craddock, Nicholas and Daniel Vaez, Sebastian Jack Mendes, and Colgan Harding Harris.
