August 2nd. Born in 1929 in Kirkland, Georgia, she moved to Tampa in the 60’s with her husband, retired AF Sgt. William Richardson, and son, Randy. Doris retired from her nursing career in the cardiac unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital after 24 years of selfless dedication serving and caring for others, during which time she never called in sick. She was proud of her profession and endlessly complimentary of her team members in the CCU.
She loved cooking, eating and watching football with her son, Randy, as HER Tampa Bay
Buccaneers tried to win back the day. She was devoted to both Rusty and Smokey, her beloved Pomeranians. She won the hearts of the ladies who so lovingly cared for her and Bill
in her final years. Doris is survived by her husband, William, of Tampa, and sons, Bartley, Harvey and Randy, and Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cardiac Institute in Doris’ memory will be accepted by St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, 2700 W. Visitation will be held at The Women’s Club 2901 Bayshore Blvd, Tampa 33629, Monday, August 12th, at 10:30am followed by a service at 11:30am. Burial at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida to follow.
