Your presence, prayers, kind words, and thoughtful gestures brought immense comfort during this difficult time. The love and support shown by family, friends, and our community served as a true reflection of the life she lived and the many hearts she touched.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the cousins and grandchildren who participated in her service. Your words, love, and presence were a beautiful tribute and a true reflection of the legacy she leaves behind.

We are deeply thankful for each of you as we honor her memory and carry her legacy forward.

la familia de Elba Rosa Fernandez desea expresar su más sincero agradecimiento a todos los que nos acompañaron para celebrar su vida. Su presencia, oraciones, palabras de cariño y muestras de apoyo nos brindaron un inmenso consuelo en estos momentos tan difíciles. El amor y la solidaridad demostrados por familiares, amigos y nuestra comunidad fueron un fiel reflejo de la hermosa vida que ella vivió y de los muchos corazones que tocó.

De manera muy especial, queremos agradecer a los primos y nietos que formaron parte de su servicio. Sus palabras, su amor y su presencia fueron un homenaje lleno de sentimiento y un reflejo auténtico del legado tan hermoso que ella nos deja.

Estamos eternamente agradecidos con cada uno de ustedes mientras honramos su memoria y continuamos llevando su legado con amor.

Too my sweet abuela, you will be missed deeply. I will never forget the bond that we shared. I remember being dropped off at your house early mornings before my mom headed to work. You would greet me with a kiss and cafe con leche (At the early age of 3). You would play baseball and hockey with me in the house. You never shied away from playing with me. I was always happy to be with you and abuelo. 

I am so grateful to be your grandson. The love, support, and sacrifice you showed our family was unmatched. You were the rock that we needed. You and abuelo set the foundation for generations to come. Everything that we have is because of your courage and faith. A fond memory I will always cherish is trading cross bracelets with you. These small moments drew me closer to my relationship with God.  

The impact that you had on our family will live on forever. I love that you were around to meet your great granddaughter, Josie.  She will always remember you <3 I know I will never forget the moments when Josie would tell on you if you weren't using your walker. 

I know you are with Abuelo now. I think about you both being reunited. I imagine you both in your youth dancing and holding each other. 

I hope to build a life/love with someone they way you and abuelo did. One that lasts, grows, forgives, sacrifices, and gives to their family. Thank you for showing me this. 

Thank you for showing me that regardless of where life takes us your family is always your family. It's not something we can choose and we must love unconditionally. Unconditional love is the most beautiful thing you radiated. You demonstrated it time and time again. 

I promise to continue those family values.

P.S. How con you con you?

Throughout life, God blesses us with people who will leave a print in our lives and hearts forever. People who will add to the joys of life: the laughter, the love, the kindness and the care. The greatest gifts of life. You are one of those people to me. You were a part of many big moments of my life and made sure to let me know you were there for me. When our son was born, Baby David, you loved him and always told me how precious he was. He loved coming into the house and looking for you to give a hug. He will miss you very much.  Even in the hardest moments, I still recall moments where you would ask me how I’m doing or ask me about baby David. You remembered the love in your heart you had for each of us in this family. This cruel sickness tried to take away so much from you but til the end you found joy in being around all of us and ways to let us know you did. The Lord doesn’t forsake us and finds ways to show His presence in moments where there seems no way.

Thank you for opening your heart to us, proving that family isn’t always proven by blood but by love. We loved you too and we will miss the days we had with you but hold them dear in our hearts.

One thing I’m sure of is that you are in the glory and awe of our Lord and Savior, you are wrapped in His love and joy. How beautiful heaven must be!

Sweet memories when I was younger spending time in your house living right across the street  from you and how you would keep me and Elba out of trouble. You will be missed Sweet Angel 😇 🙏 R.I.P.

RIP dear sweet woman, I was blessed to have you in my life, so many wonderful memories you've left me with, but the most important one was your presence when my mom passed, I will forever remember the kindness and comfort you provided, I loved you dearly and always will, till we need again in heaven, kiss Jesus for me

To my beautiful grandmother,

Things haven’t been the same since you’ve passed. So many little things have changed and I still don’t think I’ve processed it. I can’t help but look into your room as reflex every time I pass it. 

You are so dearly missed. I’ll always have so many fond memories of you, whether it’s from when you would come over every Sunday, or when you used to watch me at your house, or when you’d support me at every event. I can’t remember a time where you weren’t there for my dance recitals, gymnastics meets, and even school events. 

I’m blessed to have had a grandmother like you with just unconditional love. Even when your dementia was declining, you would shower me with so much love. I remember every time we were sitting next to each other in the car, you would look at me and call me beautiful. 

Even though the last few years have been a little rough for you, you’ve been that same feisty woman always. There’d be times where my parents got into road rage, and she’d be flicking off the person in the backseat. It’s little things like that that I’ll miss. 

It brings me peace of mind that I know you’re no longer suffering. You’re in a better place, though that doesn’t mean I’ll ever stop missing you. I know you’re in heaven finally rejoiced with Grandpa, dancing with a huge smile on your face. 

Thank you for being the best grandmother anyone could ask for. I’ll love you always and keep you in my heart. May you rest in peace forever. Mucho mucho AMOR!

To Doña Elba,  My Beautiful Mother-in-Law:

I'd love to say some things about my mother-in-law. The first day I met her I learned very quickly "no tenia pepita en la boca". 
She was going to let you know what she thought  This was never an issue with me because she got to know and love me very much.

One of the most impressive things I noticed was that she was so elegant. Looking sharp from head to toe, hair styled, nails done, so independent. I admired that about her. 

What really stood out to me was the love she had for her daughter and son, especially her grandchildren. She bragged about her children and grandchildren. It was beautiful to see and hear that. When our daughter Thalyna was born she received the same attention and love.

I truly loved how she accepted my two sons and two daughters into the family. I saw her treat them with love, attention and overall fairness. She joked and made them laugh, accepted them in all family functions and made them feel cared and loved. 

I saw the great moments, unfortunately I was also here to see the bad moments -  the change, the suffering, the sadness, the sorrow and the loss.

I saw how a person could go from everything I just mentioned above to someone that needed her family so much. Many, many times I suffered seeing her suffer. Not remembering who was who, so sad. 

I learned to absolutely HATE dementia because of what I saw. The sadness of her suffering crushed her daughter, her grandchildren, including her step-grandchildren. 

Because she was devoted to her faith and to our loving God, I know that she is in a better place. 

I know that Yeyo and her are in the heavens holding hands, happy to be together again, probably dancing above the clouds, looking down upon us smiling. 

Doña Elba, me aceptaste en tu familia, me trataste como un hijo - con amor y con cariño. Me alegro que estés en la presencia de Dios.

Mi Querida Mami,

Words cannot express the overwhelming feeling of emptiness I have within my heart and my soul. Nothing could have prepared me for watching you take your last breath. We were just talking seconds before our Lord and Savior called for you. I struggle with that because you were just conversing with me like we did throughout every other day.  I tried to give you the best life here on  this earth in your senior years and I pray you left knowing this. 

You were not only my mother, you were also my teacher and my best friend. I can never thank you enough for the love and support you’ve given me all my life. You lead by example to be a great wife, mother and grandmother and I am eternally grateful.  You are the epitome of the definition of a strong matriarch, and you were the foundation upon which our family was built.

I am blessed to have had the greatest mother in the world. My memories of you are priceless and I will always cherish them in my heart for the rest of my days. 

Dementia took away who you were; it slowly stole your personality, memories and abilities. I felt hopeless not being able to help you remember things. 
 It comforts me knowing that you never forgot I was someone who loved you. There were days when I was your daughter, other days I was your mother, niece, cousin, aunt or friend but you never treated me like a stranger, it warms my heart knowing you knew to the end that I was someone who loves you profoundly. I remember days when I would say “Mami I am your daughter, and you would say and I quote “I wish you were my daughter”!   Those moments are so bittersweet.

I am also thankful that often in between your episodes of total confusion, you had moments when you knew exactly who I was. It was as if God intended us to have those moments. Rest in peace Princessa.

Mi querida Abuela,

I have no words to describe the void in my heart since you left us. I will forever be grateful for the memories and the love you showered me with. Although my heart is broken knowing that your time with us has come to an end, I am so very grateful to have been by your side in these final moments. Even more so, I am grateful that God gave me the gift of you as my grandmother.

The truth is, not everyone is blessed with the experience of a childhood shaped by grandparents who dedicate their lives to loving their grandchildren the way you and Abuelo loved us. For that, I will forever be thankful. I was so very lucky to have been given the honor of being your grandson.

Although your love was a pillar throughout my childhood, I am also grateful for the laughter you brought into my life. I will always smile when I think of the many times you ordered my meal in the McDonald’s drive-through by simply saying, “Can I have one fren fry?”

Mientras continúo recorriendo esta vida, llevaré conmigo el amor que me diste y me esforzaré por compartir ese mismo amor y bondad con los demás. Sé que ahora estás en el paraíso junto a mi abuelo, y encuentro consuelo al saber que tu espíritu vivirá conmigo para siempre. Gracias por amarme como lo hiciste y por ser una de mis más grandes animadoras mientras crecía y me convertía en la persona que soy hoy. Vivirás para siempre en mi corazón.

Elba and Amanda❤️She was lovely in every way.

She did so much for so many. She will truly be missed.

My baby shower that her and Elbita planned for me.

She will be missed truly. I will always remember how she would greet me with joy and laughter. She would always say something to make me laugh to accompany her warm greeting, up until the last time I saw her. I am thankful that she was so personable to me and open to my siblings and I. That will always mean a lot. May Grandma rest in peace in Heaven forever.
