It is with great sadness that the family of “Elba R Fernandez” announce her passing on January 20th, 2026, at the age of 90, in Tampa Florida. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
Elba came into this world on December 21st, 1935, born to the late Luis Mesa and Faustina Ulloa in Havana Cuba. She married her best friend Aurelio Fernandez, who sadly preceded her death on February 14, 2018. To give their children an opportunity for a better life, they migrated to the United States in 1974.
Elba was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She truly lived for her family, nothing mattered more.
She was a devoted Catholic, attending her weekly church services until she could no more. After years of battling dementia, she succumbed to its severe decline in mental and physical functions. Even as her memories faded, her innate kindness and love for her family shone through. Her life was a testament of endless love, and she reminded us that love transcends words and memory.
Elba is survived by her loving daughter and caregiver, Elba Fernandez Orengo and her husband Louis Orengo, son Lazaro Fernandez, seven grandchildren: Amanda, Adrian, Jordan, Thalyna, Natacha, Daniel, Alexandra, three great grandchildren: CJ, Adrianna, and Josie, loving step-grandchildren: Luigi, Lilia, Tatiana and Eziel.
We love you so much and will miss you dearly. You have left us to be with our Lord and Savior; we know you are in a better place. May God bless your soul and bring you eternal peace. May you reunite with your beloved husband in the heavens above and dance together like you always did and may you be whole again, with all your beautiful memories returned to you.
