It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elias Georges Bedran, “Eli”, beloved father, friend, and confidant. He passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born on January 17th, 1962, in Beirut, Lebanon, to Georges Bedran and Marie Maroun. Eli was the third of four siblings, following his sisters Lucie and Blanche and preceding his younger brother, Charles. At 18 years old, he opened a record shop called Discothèque Elite. He also DJ’d at Hotel Al Bustane for private high-end parties, which included political and business gatherings.
Eli moved to Tampa, Florida, in 1986, at the age of 24 years old, with nothing but his cassettes and record collection. He began his journey in an entry-level position at Suncoast Paint, where he met his first friend in the U.S., Sean Carney. Soon after, he was awarded “The Best Color Matcher in the Tampa Bay area.” Over time, he worked his way up to build a flourishing career for the last 30 years and became an owner at Merit Professional Coatings. Throughout the decades, he painted the Tampa skyline while mentoring and supporting others along the way. He has been famously referred to as “the unofficial mayor of Tampa Bay.” He was greeted with a familiar smile wherever he went.
Eli lived a life fueled by kindness, hard work, and an enduring love for his family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor, strong spirit, unwavering strength, and his ability to make anyone smile. He had a deep passion for classic cars, music, and design. He loved boating, fishing, traveling the world with friends, and experiencing new adventures. When he wasn't adventuring, he was spending time with his daughters and family. His cherished daughters, Gizele and Sophia Bedran, were his pride, joy, and guiding light.
Eli is deeply missed by all who knew him–especially his daughters, Gizele and Sophia Bedran; Sophia’s husband, Dean; Eli’s sister, Blanche Bedran; his brother, Charles G. Bedran, and Charles’s son, George Bedran; Charles’s wife, Elssy Bedran; and their daughter, Mia Bedran; as well as extended and chosen family in Lebanon.
The family kindly asks that flowers or donations be withheld at this time while they determine the best way to honor Eli’s memory.
