Elizabeth W. "Libby" Abernathy

Elizabeth W. “Libby” Abernathy, 90, of Tampa, passed away November 19, 2018. Born in Louisville, KY to Jacob an Anna Wirth on June 4, 1928. She attended the University of Louisville, sang with the Louisville Philharmonic Chorus and Louisville a Capella Chorus and First Baptist Church Choir for many years. Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Joseph Abernathy, Sr., and son, Joseph Abernathy, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa and son-in-law Gary Payne; daughter-in-law, Dr. Carolyn Abernathy. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 9:30 am at First Baptist Church of Tampa, 302 W. Kennedy Blvd, Tampa 33606. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Tampa.
