I knew this day would come but I thought I would have a little more time. Just two weeks ago, I booked a vacation to Florida for Easter Week and was hoping to spend time with you but I guess God needed your help in heaven.
I never told you this, but years ago I heard the song “Hurt” by Christina Aguilera and automatically thought of you and our relationship.  It made me cry all the time because I missed you.  I believe this song made me reach out to you.  I feared your day would come and you would leave earth not knowing how much I love you.  I am ever so grateful to have heard it.  It is about a child blaming her dad for all of her misfortunes and her remorsefulness for not forgiving him before his departure.  She erroneously blamed him and now wishes she could turn back time.  
I thank God that I found you and was able to spend time with you.  I hope and pray that you knew that I loved you.  As for me, I always saw your love for me, in your eyes and in you smile.  Your facial expression said it all.  I've learned that the love of a parent is always reflected in their face when they look at their child and a child will love his parent even more so after his departure.
These lyrics keep going through my mind as I mourn you:

Zoraida, Awilda, and family, I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing.  Although I never met him, I know he must have been a kind and compassionate man, a man of good morals, character, and family values.  I know this because those characteristics are displayed in all of you.  How much better this world would be if we all came from loving and caring families.  My heartfelt condolences.  My heart aches, but I know he is looking down on all of you from heaven.

Cuando yo no tenía un padre, tu, Tio Emilio, siempre estaba allí para mí. "Grandpa" yo te llamaba porque yo conocía ninguno otro. Tu me amaba como un nieto y hijo, igual yo te amaba como un padre. Escuchando música juntos en tu apartamento, en tu caro, o cualquier oportunidad de pasar el tiempo con usted siempre era una bendición. Junto con la familia nunca será lo misma sin usted. Su humor y amor siempre será una parte integral de mi vida que siempre será apreciado en mis recuerdos.

Our grief is made bearable because of love and wonderful memories. We thank GOD for those memories and the capacity to love.
