Mel touched so many lives with his humor, charm, and flair for life. I have so many great memories of my childhood at the Perez’s home. Mel and Marcel treated my siblings and me like family. I remember sitting in the family room with Mel and being in complete awe of his fascinating stories. He brought us all so much laughter and enjoyment.

Mel definitely left his mark on this world and I feel so blessed to have been touched so deeply by this wonderful man. He will forever be in our hearts!

My Papa will always hold a special place in my heart. While I have many favorite memories with him, my most cherished is when he told me that he couldn’t wait to be a great grandpapa. This was on my wedding day. Papa knew how much I always wanted to be a Mom and six years later, our sweet Harbor Grace was born. Papa promised me from when we began trying to become parents that he’d be here to see our daughter. Yes, he always told me our first born would be a girl. I’ll never for that day, the conversation, or that gentle hug. I’ll always remember when he first met Harbor too; his world lit up and he couldn’t believe how beautiful she was. We captured this moment on video and I’ll cherish it forever. Papa, you’ll be missed dearly for many things - for me, the thing I’ll miss most is your soft hugs and warm smile. ❤️
