Two years ago today we lost you, our matriarch. You were not just my adoring grandmother, you were my second mom.  I think of you constantly and miss you always! My dear mom,  today is your birthday.  I feel so empty right now.  For the past 30+ years I would be getting your party together to celebrate another precious year with you.  I miss you more than you can imagine.  Every noise I hear I still go to check on you, every meal I make I  think what should I make for you to eat, in hopes that you would eat it.  You almost made it to 101.  We couldn’t have your big party last year due to COVID, but thought we could make up for it this year.  Unfortunately you couldn’t hang on that long.  I hope you are having a big party with Jean, JoAnn, Dad and all our relatives that were waiting on you with open arms!!  Till I see you again, I love and miss you!!

I have so many memories of Tia Eva from when I was little. Going to visit her in the little house in West Tampa. She had this little hairy dog that would bark like crazy when we came over. We would sit in her kitchen and she would give us snacks and talk to us in Spanish.  The last time I got to see her was several years ago. My daughter Ava sang for her and she loved it so much. She clapped and smiled and it was such a sweet moment to see her happy.  She will truly be missed. Rest in peace in heaven with all your loved ones Tia Eva.. until we meet again.

I shed tears of sadness that our matriarch has been called home.  My heart aches, but yet I am so thankful.  I am so blessed to have had you as my Great-Grandmother and my kids Great-Great Grandmother for as long as we did.  Your love and kindness touched my heart dearly and you will be deeply missed. There are so many lovely moments I can share here but one of my most honorable and delighted memories of her will
Simply be that she was my abuela Eva. I feels so blessed to have been welcomed into the family at only 2 1/2 yrs old as my step father abuela Eva’s youngest married my mother. I already had two loving grandmothers but to have her love was all the more special. We shared many laughs, hugs and numerous Christmas days together. I have also had some spontaneous pony tail hair cutting moments and moments of her just walking  around cooking and loving life. She was such an amazing soul that I’m truly greatful I was able to have her in my life for as long as I did. May you rest comfortable and peacefully abuela I love you and will miss you dearly.

I remember you taught me how to sew by hand and on your sewing machine back on Cypress. We’d walk to the corner store to get the cloths for your mop.
